general
All of the typical roleplay rules apply: no godmodding, no crossing ic/ooc lines, don't be rude, include trigger warnings, etc. Our decision to make this an invite-only gpsl is largely due to our desire to have a chill game where everyone feels comfortable enough to contribute and have fun. If any issues crop up that impede on these things and cannot be settled between the players, please let us mods know so that we can assist.
gameplay
Game-wide Plot There will be a game-wide plot affecting the game for the entirety of its run, no matter how short or long (though we'd prefer the latter!). Please come willing to contribute and throw your characters into events. Participation will always be on a volunteer basis, of course, so if you are more comfortable watching from afar and having your character react to events rather than be in the fray, that is perfectly fine. However, if you'd like to take on an active role in determining where the game goes, we happily encourage you to take up a Champion character. Who are these Champions? Well, funny that you should ask...

Champions You’ll recognize this scenario from almost every corner of the fantasy genre: a group of hardy and capable adventurers have been recruited by the kingdom at the story's beginning to investigate strange happenings. Due to the nature of their quest, this party will be the most directly involved in the game-wide plot. These characters are geared towards those who enjoy being creatively engaged and can keep a relatively quick pace. Taking on this role comes with the expectation to make a collaborative effort and help move plots along.

It should be noted that these characters and players will not receive preferential treatment over others. Champions will experience the same trials and triumphs as normal characters, but the consequences of their actions, good and bad, success or failure, will be felt acutely as it ripples out across the land. Volunteering for a Champion is agreeing to weather the storm. Take heart, however! Your character will always have their trusty travel companions to commiserate with. Further details on the group of Champions can be found HERE.

Journals & Customs While there will be no "enchanted journal" mechanic, the world of Imber offers quick traveling ravens, couriers, and other methods for sending notes and letters. There are also enchanted items that exist in the world that can convey messages, but since magic is largely outlawed in Imber, these items are mod-controlled for the time being. Stay tuned to see if this changes.

Character injury / death Due to the nature of the game, characters may be injured or killed to service the story. Plots may call for harsh penalties, NPCs (and even PCs) may be killed, etc. No active characters will be harmed or killed unless a player offers them up.

Trigger warnings Please include warnings for all disturbing, mature, or Rated-R content. Sensitive materials should go under a cut. This goes for all posts on the comms and in journals.
applying
APPLICATION Journal names should not have numerals or underscores; we have no preference whether they relate to the character's name or not. In your journal, we require an ooc contact post (backdated and comments screened), and character information. This can be a blurb, short bio, or list of detailed facts, but must include:
FULL NAME
AGE
BIRTHPLACE (see MAP)
TITLE/OCCUPATION
CLASS (Optional)
For CHAMPION characters, we have an extra requirement HERE. An ic contact post for ravens/letters is optional, although our comms can be used for that if you'd prefer. No examples are necessary; your completed application and referral from a current member are all that are needed.

PLAYED-BYS All characters should be 18+, as should their played-bys. To maintain the feeling of a fantasy setting, we ask that period-appropriate icons be used. If no period icons are available for your chosen played-by, try to select icons that are not too obviously modern (ie: no cell phones, selfies, overtly modern clothes, etc).

Limits The only character limit that we intend to enforce is regarding the champions at the center of our plot. Due to the limited number of spots in that group, players are only allowed one champion maximum. However, for all other characters great and small, there is no limit. Simply keep in mind that the below activity requirements are per character; please try to avoid taking on more than you can handle! If you cannot meet the requirements, you may be asked to trim your character load to a more manageable amount.
activity
Activity Activity can be accomplished through threading, narratives, letters/ravens, and even ooc contribution during plot posts. For most characters, we require at least 2 pieces of activity per month. Champion characters have a higher requirement of 3 pieces of activity per month. We only ask that you do not rely solely on ooc contribution to maintain your character's activity; only 1 ooc plot contribution can be counted in the monthly requirement. Mods will regularly post group threads and events to inspire interaction and further plot, but we strongly encourage our players to share their writing on the friends page rather than stick to private scenes and customs. No one is here to judge, though we'd love to see how your characters develop as the game progresses.

Removals Removals will be done at the start of each month. Reminders/activity checks will be posted a week before removals so that everyone can drop off links to their proof of activity. Removed characters may be subject to being killed off, retconned, or written out. Members who choose to leave will be given the option to have their character(s) killed off for plot reasons, or allowed a retirement and send off.

Hiatus Let us know if you will need a hiatus for any reason. We would hate to remove a player accidentally.
